Anthropic Launches Opus 5.5 with $20 per Million Tokens Pricing

On Tuesday, Anthropic released Opus 5.5, which is priced at $20 per million tokens, down from $25 for its predecessor, Opus 5, launched on July 24. This new model is reported to deliver performance comparable to Fable, a larger AI model in Anthropic's lineup. Dario Amodei, CEO of Anthropic, emphasized the need for increased prudence in addressing AI risks, stating, "I have become convinced that fully addressing the risks requires even more prudence." He also noted that as AI capabilities grow, public policy must ensure the safety of systems people rely on. In the coming weeks, Anthropic plans to release Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5, further expanding its Claude model lineup.
