Oracle Issues Force Majeure Notice for New Mexico Stargate Data Center

Oracle has issued a force majeure notice to Blue Owl Capital regarding the Stargate data center campus in New Mexico, which is designed to have a capacity of 2.45 gigawatts. This notice impacts the delivery timeline for the gas pipeline, now rescheduled for February 1, 2027, and introduces uncertainty around the air-quality permit, with a decision deadline set for November 23.

The Stargate initiative, announced during Donald Trump's presidency, involves partnerships with OpenAI and SoftBank. Despite the force majeure notice, Oracle maintains that "Project Jupiter remains on our planned schedule," and Blue Owl Capital has stated that this notice does not alter the financial commitments to the multi-year project. The data center is targeted to go online in 2028, but the recent developments may affect operational timelines and project dependencies for involved stakeholders.
