Airbnb Expands Access to GPT-6 Astra and OpenAI Frontier Models

Airbnb has expanded access to OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra and frontier models as of September 23, 2026. Ahmad Al-Dahle, Airbnb's Chief Technology Officer, reported that their development teams are delivering 80% more features compared to the previous year, attributing this increase to the capabilities of OpenAI's frontier models. Users have noted that GPT-6 Astra can complete non-coding tasks in 3–4 passes, significantly improving efficiency over other models, which required over 20 passes for the same tasks. Dali Rajic, Chief Revenue Officer at OpenAI, emphasized that this collaboration enhances Airbnb's ability to leverage AI in software development, ultimately improving the experiences offered to millions of guests and hosts. This follows Airbnb's recent initiatives, including the expansion of OpenAI Academy and the establishment of an advisory group on mathematics and AI on September 21, 2026.
